E.ON Invests in Turkish Power

19 September 2007

German energy giant E.ON is teaming up with Turkish energy company Turcas to develop, construct and operate two 800MW power plants in Turkey.

E.ON says the projects represent a major step into the Turkish energy market.

"With its strong growth rates and its urgent demand for additional generation capacity, Turkey is one of the most attractive energy markets," says E.ON board member Lutz Feldmann.

As part of a shareholders' agreement signed by the two companies, two joint-venture companies will be formed to carry out the project.

Turcas is one of the leading energy companies in Turkey with a number of subsidiaries in the oil, gas and power sectors.
