Bio-diesel derived from a range of oils will be used to power trains and other forms of transport in India, according to Indian news reports.
On an inspection of an Indian pilot bio-diesel plant, Minister of State for Railways, R Velu, told Indian reporters the plant has developed a processing mechanism for converting vegetable and cooking oils, palm oil and fish oil into bio-diesel.
The oil produced would be used in locomotives and diesel mutliple units as well as other vehicles.
