UK Nuclear Towers Demolished01 October 2007 15:56 Cooling towers at the world's first full-scale nuclear power station in the UK have been demolished four years after electricity production ceased at the site. Hundreds of people gathered to watch as the 88m-high towers on the Sellafield site were detonated in pairs as part of the first stage of decommissioning the plant, according to the BBC.
