UK Skills Shortage Risks Nuclear Ambitions

02 October 2007 16:27

UK Government plans to build up to ten nuclear power plants across Britain over the next decade could be undermined by a shortage of skilled project managers, according to a newspaper investigation.

Executives warn new nuclear plants may not come on stream until the end of the next decade due to the demand for project managers to deliver the 2012 Olympic Games and other big infrastructure projects, writes The Guardian.

Energy companies including British Energy, France's EDF, Germany's Eon and RWE, Centrica and Sweden's Vattenfall have all applied for certification to run the new plants.
