Solar Panels to Cut US Airport Emissions

02 October 2007 16:33

A two-megawatt solar energy system is being installed at Denver International Airport (DIA) in the US in a bid to reduce carbon emissions by five million pounds a year.

US solar electric company Solar Technologies Corp says the photovoltaic system, which will be located at the entrance to DIA's main terminal, is expected to generate 3.5 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually.

The system will be financed by renewable energy company MMA Renewable Ventures, which will own and operate the system and provide power to DIA under a Power Purchase Agreement.
