Five Chemical Plant Workers Killed in US

03 October 2007 12:52

An investigation is underway after a chemical fire broke out at a US hydroelectric plant, killing five workers.

The five contractors were applying epoxy coating to an underground pipeline when the fire broke out, according to Reuters.

The pipeline carries water from a reservoir to power turbines inside the power station – located near Denver, Colorado - which has two turbines and a generating capacity of 324MW.

Public Service Company of Colorado, part of US-based energy company Xcel Energy, announced it would be working with authorities to investigate the incident.
