Algeira to Build First Combined Cycle Power Plant

French engineering company Alstom and construction contractor Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) have been awarded a €1.35bn contract to build the first combined cycle power plant in Algeria.

Awarded by Algerian state-owned electricity company Sonelgaz, the OCI contract includes engineering, procurement and construction services at the plant located in Terga Wilaya de Ain Temouchent, 600km west of the capital Algiers.

The project is scheduled for completion in approximately four years.
