Enel Moves Into Mexico With New Hydro Plants

10 December 2007 15:37

Enel Investment Holding - the Dutch subsidiary of Italian utility Enel SpA - has bought three hydro plants in Mexico following a takeover of shares for Inelec from New York-based Conduit Capital Partners LLC.

The plants have an installed capacity of 52MW and are situated in Michoacan, Jalisco and Guerrero downstream from pre-existing dams.

The plants have been in operation since 2003 to 2007, and it is estimated they can generate about US$20m with their total output.

The move expands Enel's movements in the renewable energy sector - it already has operations in Latin America looking at power generation using renewable energy.
