India Praised for Wind Power Capacity

11 December 2007 14:15

India ranks as the world’s third highest country in terms of added wind power capacity, claims a renewable energy policy network.

Ren21 also praised Indian states for mandating the blending of biofuels with conventional fuels.

The network says wind power has continued to grow 25 – 30 percent per year since 2000 and receives the majority share of renewable energy investment.

India ranks behind the US and Germany for wind power capacity.

Ren21 is a policy network that provides a forum for international leadership in renewable energy policy.
