Gas Energy to Build Green Plant

12 December 2007 16:11

US energy company Gas Energy is to build a green gas-to-energy plant, the company announced today at this year's Power-Gen conference in New Orleans.

Gas Energy says the Pennyslvanian facility, which will produce an estimated 50 million kilowatt hours of energy per year, will not flare landfill gas at the site.

Instead, the 6.4MW methane gas-fired plant will enable a "significant reduction" in greenhouse gas emissions by substituting the annual fossil fuel consumption of around 4,200 homes, says the company.

Construction of the facility will start in January 2008, with plant commissioning expected by the end of March 2008.
