Caterpillar Moves Into Renewables

14 December 2007 16:15

US equipment and technology manufacturer Caterpillar Power Generation Systems (CPGS) is to include renewable fuels for power generation to meet industry and regulatory demands.

The company says it is "dedicated to making alternative energy a global reality" as it begins work on "major" alternative fuel power projects around the world.

"In terms of energy balance, not only does straight vegetable oil (SVO) represent a truly renewable fuel source, it also represents a much more efficient use of raw material," says CPGS renewable fuels manager Gert Hoffmeister.

Caterpillar Power Generation Systems works within the electric power market, predominantly manufacturing natural gas and industrial gas turbines.
