US Power Plant to Store Fuel

02 January 2008 15:52

US-based nuclear energy company Entergy Nuclear has announced it has begun moving fuel into dry storage at its Indian Point plant in Buchanan, New York.

Entergy has moved spent fuel assemblies into dry cask storage where the fuel will be dried.

The company says the move to dry cask storage is an important step towards preparing Indian Point for safe operation.

Radiation protection technicians are monitoring radiation dose levels during the process, says the company.

Indian Point Energy Center generates approximately 2,140MW of electricity.
