China To Contribute To Reactor Project

09 January 2008 16:44

China has announced it will contribute US$1.4bn towards the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.

The contribution represents about ten percent of the multinational project's costs, writes the China Daily.

The reactor will be built in the South of France and if successful could generate infinite, safe, clean energy to replace fossil fuels.

Under the agreement, the EU will be responsible for half of the construction costs while the US, Russia, Japan and the Republic of Korea will contribute equally to cover the remaining expenses.
