E.ON Funds New Jobs

18 February 2008 16:10

Energy giant E.ON will create 30,000 new jobs at its power plants and other facilities across Europe as part of a €60bn investment programme.

The majority of the programme's funding will go towards service providers in the fields of meteorology and control engineering as well as the construction and metal engineering industries, the company says.

E.ON HR Director Christoph Dänzer-Vanotti believes the investment programme will help deliver "supply security and climate protection" as well as employment opportunities, with 15,200 new jobs in Germany alone.

A further 11,500 jobs will be indirectly created by the construction of new power plants across Europe, while 3,700 roles will be needed to carry out operational duties.

The investment initiative includes looking into leading-edge power plants, gas pipelines and storage capacities as well as renewables in Germany and Europe.
