Biofuels Producer Fined For Dumping

12 March 2008 16:22

US biofuels producer Cargill has been fined US$100,000 in a state lawsuit for waste disposal violations from its plant in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

After exceeding agreed limits, Cargill engaged another company, Mort's Inc, to dispose further waste, resulting in 135,000 galleons of sludge spread over pastures and creeks, writes energycurrent.com.

Cargill has resumed waste discharging compliant with pre-treatment limitations to the Iowa Falls treatment system.
