Europe Attractive for Renewables Investors

31 March 2008 14:37

Europe is fast catching up with the US as the most attractive destination for investment in renewable energy, according to a study by financial services company Ernst & Young.

The report entitled "Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index", finds that the latest EU mandate to increase the use of renewable energy across Europe by 2020 has significantly boosted interest by investors.

The index, which tracks the top 25 national renewable energy markets, shows that the US lost ground in the fourth quarter of 2007 to its second-place rival, Germany, a popular country for investors.
