Watchdog Warns Against French Nuclear Reactors31 March 2008 15:46 France’s nuclear safety watchdog, ASN, has warned that the country’s nuclear reactors suffer from "catastrophic problems". The news follows France’s President Nicholas Sarkozy visit to the Britain, in which he encouraged the sale of France's nuclear reactors and expertise. A letter from ASN, leaked on a website, has highlighted weaknesses and "malfunctions" in the building of the reactor at Flamanville and calls them to be corrected in a month, writes Telegraph.co.uk. Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Mr Sarkozy pledged last week to co-operate on a new generation of nuclear power plants by sharing information on safety, security and waste disposal.
