NZ Invests in Oz Clean Coal

02 April 2008 12:17

New Zealand energy company Solid Energy is investing in an Australian venture to store CO2 emissions underground, reducing the impact on global warming.

The project in Boggy Creek, Victoria, to find clean coal is part of a bid to become greener by using carbon storage technology, says New Zealand's One News.

The project, described by the broadcaster as a "giant smokestack turned upside down", works by turning gas into a super liquid before pumping it back down underground where it is stored.
