Westinghouse Electric in Talks to Build US Nuclear Reactors

03 April 2008 16:32

Japan's Toshiba Corp has announced its US energy business Westinghouse Electric is in final talks with two power companies to build up to four next-generation nuclear reactors in the US.

Toshiba has been in talks with SCANA Corp and Southern to build up to two plants in South Carolina and two in Georgia, a Toshiba spokesperson told Reuters.

If Westinghouse wins the deals, the power reactors will be the first AP1000 models to be built in the US.
