EDF Eyes British Energy Bid

French energy giant EDF is rumoured to have received approval from its board to make a bid for British nuclear operator British Energy.

UK-based finance site ShareCast says shares in British Energy have jumped on reports by French newspaper La Tribune, which says EDF is set to make a 100 percent offer for the company.

British Energy has indicated it is in talks that could lead to an offer for part or all of the company, including alliances to build nuclear plants in the UK.
