UK Biofuels Plant Shuts Down

11 April 2008 12:22

British biofuels company D1 Oils is to shut down one of its refineries due to cheap biodiesel imports from the US.

Company staff are currently being consulted about up to 40 possible job losses, a spokesperson for D1 Oils told the BBC.

North East Euro MP Martin Callanan has called on the European Union to act in an effort to stop cheap US imports.

D1 Oils says it plans to concentrate on plants in India and Africa to produce biofuels.
