GE-Hitachi Nuclear Seeks UK Design Licence

24 April 2008 16:28

GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, a joint-venture between US giant General Electric and technology provider Hitachi, is in talks with several power companies to have its nuclear reactor design licensed in the UK.

The company says it is working with several utilities to license the Economic Simplified Boiling Water reactor as part of the UK's design assessment process.

The UK Government has invited nuclear power plant operators and utilities to nominate a maximum of three designs, with submissions ranked according to preference.
