UK Wind Project Partner Pulls Out

01 May 2008 14:29

Energy giant Shell has pulled out of a UK offshore project, set to be the biggest wind farm in the world, writes the Financial Times.

The London Array, located in the Thames Estuary in London, is designed to have 341 turbines capable of generating 1,000MW of energy – enough to power a quarter of London's homes.

Shell is to sell its stake in the project and concentrate on onshore wind farms in the US, according to the newspaper.

The company has an equal share in the project together with E.ON and Danish Dong Energy.
