AMEC CEO to Head Up UK Energy Taskforce

06 May 2008 16:45

A new task force set to make the UK a leading player in the global energy market is to be headed up by AMEC Chief Executive Samir Brikho.

Brikho will chair the UK Energy Marketing Strategy Implementation Board, which was launched by UK Trade and Investment last year.

Making the appointment at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, UK Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks outlined plans to promote UK expertise abroad.

"As energy supply and the issue of climate change rise up the global agenda, the UK is well positioned to build and capitalise on the strength of its energy industry," says Wicks.

The board aims to create a working partnership between UK energy companies and the government to develop solutions to global challenges arising from climate change.

Members of the board are currently being recruited.
