Mesa Power and GE Team Up on Texas Wind Project

16 May 2008 14:51

US-based Mesa Power says it has ordered 667 wind turbines from General Electric (GE) as part of plans to build the world's largest wind energy generator in Texas, US.

The Pampa Wind Project's first phase is expected to generate 1,000MW of electricity and will cost US$2bn.

The first phase will produce enough electricity to power more than 300,000 average US homes and will come online by early 2011, the company says.

GE will deliver the 1.5MW wind turbines in 2010 and 2011 to the site in the Texas Panhandle, identified as one of the fastest-growing wind-power-producing regions in the nation.
