MAN Diesel to Supply Brazilian Power Plants

German diesel engine manufacturer MAN Diesel has won a deal to supply electro-mechanical equipment for six diesel power plants for Brazilian company Grupo Bertin.

The firm will provide 120 large-bore diesel engines and generators worth $300m to generate a total 1,000MW of electricity.

The power plants will be built close to Salvador in Bahia and are due to be operational in 2011.

MAN Diesel manufactures large-bore diesel engines for ships and power plants.
