18 February 2010

UK's Horizon Energy Cooperative has unveiled plans to generate up to 250MW of power from social housing sites, the company has announced.

The project will create a microgrid to collect renewable power from households in Manchester, England, to distribute it across the community along with selling a portion to the National Grid.

The project is expected to generate £20m (US$30.1m) in revenue and save two million tons of carbon.
