Six international consortia are keen to build a 1,000MW coal-fired power plant in Kosovo, the country's ministry of energy and mining has announced.
The independent state is seeking outside investors to help develop the plant, which is expected to cost up to €1bn (US$1.3bn), according to Reuters.
The ministry that has not yet disclosed the names of the bidders, which is expected soon.
Last year Kosovo gave up its plans to build a 2,000MW power plant aimed at turning the Balkan country into a regional power exporter due to a lack of investor interest.
At present, the nation has two power plants, Kosovo A and Kosovo B, that are in poor condition and do not generate the 1,000MW of daily capacity necessary.
