US-based renewable energy supplier Green Power EMC has entered an agreement with Silicon Ranch to develop four new solar facilities that will bring 200MW of power online by 2020.

The four solar projects will be developed, funded, and built by Silicon Ranch. The company will also own, operate, and maintain the arrays throughout the lifecycle of each facility.

Green Power EMC will buy all the energy and environmental attributes generated by the facilities on behalf of its member Georgia Electric Membership (EMC). The total capacity generated will be distributed across four locations in southern Georgia, US.

The solar energy will be able to supply enough low-cost, renewable energy to power more than 35,000 EMC households annually.

"Continued improvements in solar cost and technology will help our EMCs meet their members’ interest in solar energy."

Green Power's EMC president Jeff Pratt said: “The Georgia EMCs deserve enormous credit for their vision to provide competitively-priced, renewable power to their members.

“Continued improvements in solar cost and technology will help our EMCs meet their members’ interest in solar energy and maintain competitive energy costs.”
