Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has secured an order from Ansteel International Economic and Trade to provide a M701S(DA)X turbine and power generator to upgrade a power plant in Anshan City, China.

The new equipment will be installed to a boiler-based power facility to improve its efficiency and upgrade it to a blast-furnace gas (BFG) fired, 180MW gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) plant. This will be Anshan Iron and Steel Group's second power generation facility.

The plant will use by-product gases produced by blast and coke furnaces of a neighbouring steel plant. BFG-fired GTCC systems are designed to make effective use of by-product gases, which reduces environmental loads and helps in the efficient use of energy.

In addition, MHPS will provide a gas compressor, an electrostatic precipitator, a speed reduction unit, and other equipment.

The plant is scheduled to be operational by the first half of 2019.

Mitsubishi will support the trading operations, while Mitsubishi Electric will build the generator.
