Nordex has won a contract from Green Energy Supply to develop a 65MW Knockduff wind farm project in Ireland.

Located in County Cork to the south-west of Ireland, the onshore wind farm will offer a wind speed of 8.5m per second.

Under the contract, Nordex will supply and install 26 of its N90/2500 turbines at the wind power facility.

Nordex will also offer premium service for the farm for a minimum period of 15 years.

"Knockduff… underscores that Nordex is among the market leaders, thanks to our efficient products."

The facility is likely to begin operations from August 2015.

Nordex management board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said: "Knockduff is our second largest project so far in Ireland and underscores that we are among the market leaders, thanks to our efficient products."

The firm will have around 25% of the market with this new project.

With a total of 204 installed turbines in Ireland, Nordex has a combined power generation capacity of more than 500MW.

Earlier in the month, the power equipment manufacturer also won an order to deliver 15 of its N117/3000 wind turbines for Adali Holding’s 45MW Kiyiköy wind farm in Turkey.
