ETD Consulting is launching a webinar for utilities from around the globe to provide a better understanding of the benefits of asset management and reliability centred maintenance (RCM).

If you would like to register for this event click here.

The one-hour webinar, to be held on the 22 October, will explain why the RCM programme is necessary and how a reliable and advanced maintenance programme is beneficial to manage the risks of power plant equipment failures.

Key Learning Goals

  • RCM strategies and importance in power generation
  • Step by step approach for implementing RCM in power generation
  • Maintenance cost and reliability improvement factors in RCM
  • Maintenance and reliability data analysis tools
  • RCM support software and advantages
  • Integrating RCM and plant remaining life assessment recommendations
  • Management support and initiatives

Why is RCM important?

Government renewable energy and emissions policies in many countries are impacting the way fossil fired plants are being used and operated, particularly older plants that are now low on the merit order.

These changes are having an effect on the plant components, primarily introducing different and / or accelerated damage types than were initially expected at the time of commissioning. Efficient use of plant budget and manpower is needed to address these issues while capturing the maximum profitability for plant owners.

Power plants across the globe are attempting to optimise their maintenance strategies, with highly focused reliability improvement and cost reduction initiatives. Therefore maintenance and operation performance have assumed far greater importance, resulting in the development of new maintenance philosophies and techniques.

Reliability Centred Maintenance, often known as RCM, is an industrial improvement approach, focused on identifying and establishing the operational, maintenance and capital improvement strategies that will manage and reduce the risks of equipment failure most effectively. With the application of RCM principles, maintenance is evaluated and applied in a rational manner that provides the most value to a system’s owner / manager / operator.
