METKA EGN has signed engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) contracts with Total Eren for two photovoltaic projects in Kazakhstan.

The first project Nomad is a 28MWp photovoltaic power plant close to the Zhalagash village in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan.

M-KAT is the second project, a 100MW peak capacity photovoltaic power plant next to the village of Shu in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region.

The projects incorporate central inverters, mono technology solar photovoltaic modules and single-axis trackers. The Nomad development consists of 83,592 photovoltaic modules with 335W peak capacity and eight production substations. It covers an area of 73.94ha.

The M-KAT project includes 298,485 photovoltaic modules with 335W peak capacity and 24 production substations, encompassing an area of 328.93ha.

Both developments will be the first photovoltaic power plants that use single-axis trackers in Kazakhstan. They are expected to enter operation by the end of 2019.

Once completed, Nomad and M-KAT are expected to generate a combined 225GWh each year, which is enough to serve about 40,000 residents while still making an annual saving of around 300,000 tons of CO₂.

METKA EGN is establishing itself as a credible worldwide EPC contractor for solar energy and storage by deploying the same principles as its parent company MYTILINEOS.

MYTILINEOS ensures growth and business excellence as well as value creation for its clients, business partners and shareholders.

These contracts establish the cooperation of MYTILINEOS with Total Eren, a leading renewable independent power producer. The French company develops, finances, builds, operates and invests in long term wind, solar and hydropower plants on a global scale.

Total Eren currently has more than 2,400MW of renewable energy projects in operation or under construction across five continents.

METKA EGN has attained the distinction of being among Total Eren’s preferred suppliers. This status reflects the confidence, know-how and credibility that has been built by METKA EGN in the market.

The total project cost for Nomad and M-Kat for Total Eren amounts to $157 million.
