Toronto, January 21, 2003 (NYSE: CGT; TSX: CAE) – CAE, a world leader in the supply of power plant simulators, today announced that Florida Power & Light (FPL) will be the first customer in the power utility industry to use its seLearning™ technology. The training system will be deployed at FPL’s St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant.

The seLearning™ suite is a versatile self-paced simulation training system capable of unlocking the power of a full scope simulator on the desktop, over a local area network or via the Internet. With this technology, FPL can bring its CAE-developed full scope plant simulator into remote classroom settings, eventually using it as a networked simulator enabling distributed self-paced learning anytime, anywhere under the guidance of a virtual instructor.

Using off-the-shelf authoring tools, FPL will also be able to create new self-paced learning modules that are integrated with its current full scope St. Lucie plant simulator.

The introduction of seLearning™ capability will change the way operational knowledge is transferred and training is delivered at power plants. Changes that are critical to plant safety and efficiency can be adopted faster and more effectively.

‘CAE is very pleased that FPL, as seLearning™’s power utility launch customer, has decided to invest in the future of power plant simulation,’ said Rashid Khan, Executive Vice President, Marine and Power Systems at CAE. ‘CAE’s customers such as Boeing are already using seLearning™ technology for aviation training. It is very rewarding to see the power industry adopting this critical training technology.’

‘A major corporate initiative is underway at FPL to adopt eLearning technology where practical,’ said Ash Pell, St. Lucie Training Manager of FPL. ‘CAE’s seLearning™ is the right strategic fit for FPL’s growing training requirements’
