Asia-Pacific Solar technology contracts activity rises 8% in August 2021

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in August 2021 saw 54 contracts announced, marking a rise of 8% over the last 12-month average of 50, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement with 23 contracts and a 42.6% share
  2. Project Implementation: 20 contracts and a 37% share
  3. Supply & Erection: nine contracts and a 16.7% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1.9% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.9% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power contracts activity


India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology contracts recorded in August 2021 with 20 contracts and a 37% share, followed by Malaysia with 15 contracts and a 27.8% share and Taiwan with five contracts and a 9.3% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in August 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,600MW from five contracts
  2. Tenaga Nasional (Malaysia): 576MW from 12 contracts
  3. RackBank Datacenters and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (India): 500MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. ReNew Power Ventures Pvt (India): 900MW from two contracts
  2. NTPC (India): 550MW from two contracts
  3. Ayana Renewable Power Pvt (India): 450MW capacity from one contract.
