Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity up 7% in August 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 29 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in August 2020, marking a rise of 7% over the last 12-month average of 27, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in August 2020 with 31 contracts and a 30.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 29 contracts and a 28.2% share and Electricity Procurement with 21 contracts and a 20.4% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 79.3% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 13.8% share
  3. Project Implementation: two contracts and a 6.9% share.

Wind is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in August 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, wind accounted for 18 contracts with a 60% share, followed by solar with six contracts and a 20% share and thermal with two contracts and a 6.7% share.

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
