Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity down 21% in January 2021
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 26 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in January 2021, marking a drop of 21% over the last 12-month average of 33, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in January 2021 with 43 contracts and a 48.9% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 26 contracts and a 29.5% share and Electricity Procurement with 11 contracts and a 12.5% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 24 contracts and a 92.3% share
  2. Project Implementation: one contract and a 3.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 3.8% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in January 2021

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for ten contracts with a 38.5% share, followed by wind with eight contracts and a 30.8% share and hydro with three contracts and an 11.5% share.
