Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity up 19% in Q4 2019

There were 81 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in Q4 2019, marking a rise of 19% over the last 12-month average of 68, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q4 2019 with 93 contracts and a 35.5% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 81 contracts and a 30.9% share and Electricity Procurement with 33 contracts and a 12.6% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 69 contracts and an 85.2% share
  2. Project Implementation: eight contracts and a 9.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 4.9% share.

Wind is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in Q4 2019

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, wind accounted for 29 contracts with a 35.8% share, followed by solar with 24 contracts and a 29.6% share and thermal with 21 contracts and a 25.9% share.
