Asia-Pacific Solar technology contracts activity drops 6% in August 2020

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in August 2020 saw 31 contracts announced, marking a drop of 6% over the last 12-month average of 33, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 14 contracts and a 45.2% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: eight contracts and a 25.8% share
  3. Supply & Erection: seven contracts and a 22.6% share
  4. Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 6.5% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power contracts activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology contracts recorded in August 2020 with 17 contracts and a 54.8% share, followed by Australia with five contracts and a 16.1% share and Malaysia with three contracts and a 9.7% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in August 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Afghanistan): 3,000MW from one contract
  2. NTPC (India): 1,170MW from four contracts
  3. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 1,050MW capacity from eight contracts.

  1. PAL four Solar Energy L (United Arab Emirates): 3,000MW from one contract
