Asia-Pacific Solar technology contracts activity rises 3% in December 2020

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in December 2020 saw 39 contracts announced, marking a rise of 3% over the last 12-month average of 38, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection with 16 contracts and a 41% share
2. Project Implementation: 12 contracts and a 30.8% share
3. Power Purchase Agreement: nine contracts and a 23.1% share
4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 2.6% share
5. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 2.6% share.

Australia tops Asia-Pacific solar power contracts activity

Australia was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology contracts recorded in December 2020 with 12 contracts and a 30.8% share, followed by China with eight contracts and a 20.5% share and India with four contracts and a 10.3% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

1. Vietnam Electricity (Vietnam): 330MW from one contract
2. X-ELIO Energy (Spain): 200MW from one contract
3. CS Energy (Australia) and Pacifico Energy K. (Japan): 77MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

1. Bamboo Capital (Vietnam) and Leader Energy Pte (Singapore): 330MW from one contract
2. China Energy Engineering Group Planning and Engineering (China) and Grupo Gransolar (Spain): 200MW from one contract
3. ESCO Pacific Pty (Australia) and Sharp Energy Solutions (Japan): 77MW capacity from one contract.
