The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 177 contracts and an 86.8% share
- Electricity Supply: 26 contracts and a 12.7% share
- Project Implementation: one contract and a 0.5% share.
North America leads electricity procurement activity in Q3 2020
Comparing contracts activity in electricity procurement segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 69 contracts and a share of 33.8% during Q3 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 62 contracts and a 30.4% share and Europe with 48 contracts and a 23.5% share.

Solar is leading technology for electricity procurement contracts in Q3 2020
Among the technologies, solar accounted for 127 contracts with a 59.9% share, followed by wind with 55 contracts and a 25.9% share and hydro with 13 contracts and a 6.1% share.
Electricity procurement contracts in Q3 2020: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Emirates Water and Electricity (United Arab Emirates): 2,000MW from one contract
- Electric Power Generation Enterprise (Myanmar): 1,250MW from one contract
- MP Power Management (India) and Societe Nationale d’Electricite (Democratic Republic of the Congo): 1,000MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- EDF Renewables (France): 2,087.2MW from two contracts
- Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates), Abu Dhabi National Energy (United Arab Emirates) and Jinko Power Technology (China): 2,000MW from one contract
- NHPC (India): 1,700MW capacity from three contracts.
