Europe electricity procurement contracts activity down 39% in June 2021

There were 23 electricity procurement contracts announced in the Europe region in June 2021, marking a drop of 39% over the last 12-month average of 38, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in June 2021 with 75 contracts and a 44.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 45 contracts and a 26.5% share and Electricity Procurement with 23 contracts and a 13.5% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was:Power Purchase Agreement with 23 contracts and a 100% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe electricity procurement contracts in June 2021

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 14 contracts with a 58.3% share, followed by solar with nine contracts and a 37.5% share and hydro with one contract and a 4.2% share.

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Urzad Regulacji Energetyki (Poland): 1,197MW from one contract
  2. Hydro Energy (Norway): 182MW from one contract
  3. EnBW Energie Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany): 150MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Northland Power (Canada) and Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen (Poland): 1,197MW from one contract
  2. Eolus Vind (Sweden): 182MW from one contract
  3. Blue Elephant Energy (Germany): 150MW capacity from one contract.
