Europe generation equipment contracts activity down 21% in January 2020

There were 23 generation equipment contracts announced in the Europe region in January 2020, marking a drop of 21% over the last 12-month average of 29, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in January 2020 with 25 contracts and a 27.8% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 23 contracts and a 25.6% share and Electricity Procurement with 15 contracts and a 16.7% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 18 contracts and a 78.3% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 13% share
  3. Project Implementation: two contracts and an 8.7% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe generation equipment contracts in January 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 14 contracts with a 60.9% share, followed by solar with four contracts and a 17.4% share and thermal with two contracts and an 8.7% share.

The top winner of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe was:Progetti International (Italy) with 10MW from one contract.
