Europe generation equipment contracts activity down 6% in Q1 2020

There were 84 generation equipment contracts announced in the Europe region in Q1 2020, marking a drop of 6% over the last 12-month average of 89, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q1 2020 with 131 contracts and a 36.6% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 84 contracts and a 23.5% share and Electricity Procurement with 43 contracts and a 12% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 71 contracts and an 84.5% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and an 8.3% share
  3. Project Implementation: four contracts and a 4.8% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 2.4% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe generation equipment contracts in Q1 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 45 contracts with a 54.2% share, followed by thermal with 12 contracts and a 14.5% share and solar with 11 contracts and a 13.3% share.
