Europe smart grid contracts activity up 44% in Q3 2020

There were 36 smart grid contracts announced in the Europe region in Q3 2020, marking a rise of 44% over the last 12-month average of 25, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q3 2020 with 231 contracts and a 40% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 124 contracts and a 21.5% share and T&D Equipment with 101 contracts and a 17.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was:Supply & Erection with 36 contracts and a 100% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe smart grid contracts in Q3 2020

Looking at smart grid contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 12 contracts with an 80% share, followed by hydro with three contracts and a 20% share.
