Europe T&D equipment contracts activity up 137% in Q2 2020

There were 102 T&D equipment contracts announced in the Europe region in Q2 2020, marking a rise of 137% over the last 12-month average of 43, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q2 2020 with 294 contracts and a 48.7% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 121 contracts and a 20% share and T&D Equipment with 102 contracts and a 16.9% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 93 contracts and a 91.2% share
2. Project Implementation: five contracts and a 4.9% share
3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 3.9% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe T&D equipment contracts in Q2 2020

Looking at T&D equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 11 contracts with a 64.7% share, followed by solar with four contracts and a 23.5% share and biopower with one contract and a 5.9% share.
