Europe T&D equipment contracts activity up 63% in Q3 2020

There were 101 T&D equipment contracts announced in the Europe region in Q3 2020, marking a rise of 63% over the last 12-month average of 62, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q3 2020 with 231 contracts and a 40% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 124 contracts and a 21.5% share and T&D Equipment with 101 contracts and a 17.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 88 contracts and an 87.1% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and a 6.9% share
  3. Project Implementation: five contracts and a 5% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe T&D equipment contracts in Q3 2020

Looking at T&D equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 12 contracts with a 70.6% share, followed by thermal with three contracts and a 17.6% share and hydro with one contract and a 5.9% share.
