Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

Generation equipment contracts in December 2019 saw 74 contracts announced, marking a drop of 3% over the last 12-month average of 76, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 63 contracts and an 85.1% share
  2. Project Implementation: six contracts and an 8.1% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 6.8% share.

Europe leads generation equipment activity in December 2019

Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 25 contracts and a share of 33.8% during December 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with 24 contracts and a 32.4% share and North America with 13 contracts and a 17.6% share.

Wind is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in December 2019

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 42 contracts with a 56.8% share, followed by solar with 16 contracts and a 21.6% share and thermal with 14 contracts and an 18.9% share.

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution (India): 660MW from one contract
