North America electricity procurement contracts activity up 9% in October 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 25 electricity procurement contracts announced in the North America region in October 2020, marking a rise of 9% over the last 12-month average of 23, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Electricity Procurement stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in October 2020 with 25 contracts and a 34.2% share, followed by Power Plant with 18 contracts and a 24.7% share and Generation Equipment with 17 contracts and a 23.3% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 22 contracts and an 88% share
  2. Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 12% share.

Solar is top technology for North America electricity procurement contracts in October 2020

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for 21 contracts with an 87.5% share, followed by thermal with one contract and a 4.2% share and wind with one contract and a 4.2% share.
