North America energy storage contracts activity up 35% in Q3 2020
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 27 energy storage contracts announced in the North America region in Q3 2020, marking a rise of 35% over the last 12-month average of 20, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Electricity Procurement stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q3 2020 with 69 contracts and a 28.3% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 63 contracts and a 25.8% share and Power Plant with 43 contracts and a 17.6% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 11 contracts and a 40.7% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: ten contracts and a 37% share
  3. Supply & Erection: six contracts and a 22.2% share.

Solar is top technology for North America energy storage contracts in Q3 2020

Looking at energy storage contracts by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for 15 contracts with a 93.8% share, followed by thermal with one contract and a 6.3% share.
